Welcome to the PITAA Website

The idea of a Pacific Islands Tax Administrators Association (PITAA) first emerged during a seminar organized by the Pacific Financial Technical Assitance Centre (PFTAC) in Tonga in May 2003 that was attended by the tax representatives of eight PICs. As PICTA and PACER are implemented, the representatives were concerned by the gradual shift away from a trade oriented tax system and its implication in terms of policy and administration reforms. They welcomed the opportunity, provided by PFTAC, to exchange views on these and related matters and proposed that PFTAC look in the possibility of creating a suitable body that would meet regulary.
